Coles County, Illinois | Back in the 70's our Field Cultivators would not go thru fall chiseled cornstalks. So we had to disk them first. I dislike using a disk in the spring as you have to wait a lot longer for the ground to dry out before using one. Here in my soil type they will make clods that are so hard they last all season if you disk moist soil. Just a few miles south of here is a soil type from an earlier glacial age. They can work ground wet to get it to dry out. Back in the 70's many of them did not even own a Field Cultivator and just used a disk for secondary tillage.
I plan to spread some AMS and Potash on DiskRipped cornstalks going into soybeans. I'll Field Cultivate then spread fertilizer and spray Generic Prowl and Generic Pursuit. If I get a decent rain, I'll just plant it. If not, I'll incorporate the chemicals and plant. We have Waterhemp here so I'll try to get generic Valor on before the soybeans emerge. If not then my post program goes much earlier. | |
