Pretty normal in this part of the world to spread the fertilizer on the previous year corn ground and work it in with a field cultivator ahead of planting.

Is the alternative to spread fertilizer, leave the fertilizer on top of the corn residue, an notill into it? Yeah, we don't even know how to spell notill. =)

You can go through untouched stalks with a field cultivator ?
