Subject: RE: Compost Nutrient test breakdown question

$2.50/ton will not even cover the cost of spreading... so there is either an error in the actual cost or the source of the compost is trying to get rid of it.

Nothing jumps out at me in the analysis #s provided as a serious red flag but the pH of 8.4 is high.

The total N, P2O5 and K2O #s converted to lbs/moist ton are:

15.4 lbs N/ton
6.2 lbs P2O5/ton
9 lbs K2O/ton

The aluminum and iron #s indicate to me that the compost contains some soil... which is normal.

With a pH over 8, the aluminum will all be tied up in insoluble compounds.

Before receiving this compost, I would definitely want to know more about the source materials and why it is so cheap.
