Paxton, IL | I'm running a FM1000 display on RTK (Case IH RTK+ using intuicom modem). Throughout the last couple years, I've had an issue with the RTK dropping out, but xFill not filling in the gaps all the time. It used to work perfectly on this setup. When RTK would drop out, xFill would kick in and allow me to run for up to 20 mintues (but usually only needed it for a minute or so until RTK came back).
A few years ago I did switch the RTX frequency to 1555.808 and confirmed that is what it is still on (located in central IL). I do notice xFill will kick on sometimes and work as it should, but other times it disappears. Lately I've been paying more attention to it and noticed when I'm running, the white "X" symbol in the upper left hand corner of the map will disappear for a while and come back. Sometimes its very brief and other times it may be gone for quite a while. Does this mean I'm losing the RTX satellite? or is there more to it than that?
This FM1000 is one of the older models that was limited to 12 satellites. I do have it unlocked for Glonass and normally show between 8-12 satellites being tracked, but I'm wondering If I'm running into issues with the tractor and RTK base not sharing enough common satellites causing the RTK correction to drop out. I'm not sure how the xFill correction works behind the scenes, if it simply switches to RTX correction when RTK drops out, or does it require RTK history or information in some fashion to help fill in the gaps? | |
