| Let him enjoy his early high school years. Play in the best summer league he can and continue to build his skills. In my day American Legion ball was the pathway for that age. We played teams from all over the country, even El Segundo CA which was George Brett’s team. Now, traveling teams are the pathway, utilize them. Playing at the collegiate level is a broad level of talent. Many can play at lower level, very tough at the higher levels. The high level is like a full time job and very tough to balance grades, training, and travel in season. You are getting paid to play! It is tough, but rewarding and a tremendous experience. It is a noble goal for your son. Best wishes!
