Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | That appears to be the brand that Ag Leader supplied with my first setup many years ago. The switch pictured has three terminals under the cover. You would use the common and either the N.O. or N.C. terminal depending on whether the springy antenna like portion is deflected when the planter is UP or when it is DOWN.
Some devices allow you to change how this behaves in a setup menu such as Ag Leader's App Rate Module. For their Clutch, Liquid and most others, the circuit must be completed or jumpered to apply.
As I recall Ag Leader offers a whisker switch of their own now that is different in the sense that it has two branches with Weather Pack connectors. You use one branch or the other depending on how the switch is mounted.
I've seen switches that use good strong magnets that work well. The advantage is ease of installation and adjustment if necessary.
That first switch that you have pictured worked OK for me but I believe it did fail after a couple of years since it was close to fertilizer.
I have had good results with the Deere Push Button style but I understand others have had problems especially with waterways etc. and prefer a single whisker type switch where the switch is mounted on the frame rather than on an actual planting unit. Since we don't have any "holes" due to waterways etc. the push buttons have been fine.
Some operations just use a jumper since Auto Swath will usually be shutting off the seed. Using the Master switch would also be available. I just figure to use the implement switches to make certain that the application stops when the planter is raised. If both my implement switches could fail, I could flip my Override switch ON and just let auto swath shut the planter OFF since that is generally what is happening anyway since our Headlands are planted first.
