Central IL | Can it be doneā¦ yes. Is it economical to do probably not. You will need solar that is 3x the wattage to start the motor and that will only work when the sun is shining high and bright. Would really need a soft start circuit to limit input surge at startup.
To be realistic you would need a battery bank and inverters large enough for the surge then solar array to charge the batteries based upon your wattage requirements. Any amount of clouds in the sky will drastically reduce your solar output and need to be factored in with your projected usage. Some days with lots of clouds you may not have power to operate. | |
