Trump needs to constantly fact checked
It would easily reach tariff level IF Canada government would give retailers the license to import. Right now, only processors can import and they don't want the competition.
Let me put it another way. If the USA would do the same thing with Chinese made glyphosate. Make it so that only Bayer and BASF can import Chinese glyphosate. How much would they import? I would guess they would not import any because they want to sell the product that they produce in the USA first. Now if you let retailers import, they will import until tariffs kick in and it becomes cheaper to buy USA made glyphosate.
The milk situation is not only about the tariffs but also about the required import license that only processors can get. Trump is trying to open this market to USA dairy farmers. |
