NW Iowa | I see a couple of cement corn cribs in your pictures. It seems like cement corn cribs are only seen in certain areas. There must have been a dealer in those areas that sold those cribs. In my neighborhood most of the cribs are wooden. Last summer in my travels I noticed there is an area between DesMoines and Fort Dodge Ia that has quite a few cement cribs. That area is a little farther south from where I live so maybe the warmer climate helped dry the corn better. Cement cribs aren't known for good ventilation. What they are good for is not rotten wood and rodents can't chew holes in the walls. | |
