London, Ontario, Canada | Candas position is the result of a lack of leadership going back many years. We are in this postion by our own doing. Not any good business would put all their eggs in 1 basket. Canada did and now we get to see the consequences.
During free trade talks in the 80's I went on record as saying when the US sneezes we will catch pnemoninia. The US just sneezed. When Canada didn't build a proposed pipeline to the west coast to export Alberta oil to China we burned a bridge. When Japan approached Canada 2 years ago to sign a long term NG contract Trudeau declined not wanting to promot the use of fossil fuels. The US just got that deal.
The autopact was touted as the best trade deal of all times for Ontario. When you get in bed with a giant you eventually get more then sleep. Canada doesn't contribute to Nato at the level we signed up for. California has a larger population than Canada. So we don't have a huge market to offer the US. We have no military to even get close to defending our borders. We are taxed at a very high level and that has been increasing at higher levels yearly. WHERE has all this money been going? Our infastructure is lacking, Our socialist helath care hasn't inproved if not gone backwards and our debt continues to climb. You do know our 13 percent tax was sold to us as a portion was to reduce our debt. HaHA.
Our swamp is as deep as the US and now someone is trying to rewrite the playbook. Many talk of a reset needed to correct things. I am opposed to the reset that many think should occur as everyone will suffer.
My hope is that this attempt will bring these faults to the front and be succesful in creating a new playbook that works to get our countries back on track.
I leave with 1 question. How as a Canadian you be mad a a leader that wants to cut taxes and give more, and better jobs to its people? He also is delivering on many campaign promises. What a novel idea.
I have a solution for Canada. Perhaps we can get the US to stop the tarrifs if we just agree to pay say 100 BILLION a year for their military to protect us? Canadians don't seem to have any clue as to how small and insignificant we are compared to the giant next door.
Its like an average Canadian farmer worrying about the roadside stand next door putting them out of business. | |
