It's a win win for business' that also charge extra to use a credit card because it's been proven people spend more with a card than with cash and that amount is way more than the 3% it costs a business to allow credit card use.
Not always, that's why you might see a minimum sale of like $10. There can be a flat charge to business, plus a % fee. At least HERE. Gas stations here show a cash discount, if they offer one, but it's usually only ~1%, so if you have a CC that pays better than 1% cash back, charging it works out better. |
