Eastern NE KS | My story goes the opposite direction. Dad liked to splurge and I was thrifty.
In Jan '67 Dad arranged for us to go to the National Western stock show. On the return trip he ran low on cash and the car was low on gas. I listened to him explain his situation from the back seat. He didn't have the correct gas card. I finally piped up to fill the tank I have money. I had taken my premium money and some lawn mowing earnings along in case I found something I wanted to buy.
Mom asked how much are you carrying? I had $80 still in my wallet. I just didn't find anything I wanted to buy until it was gas for the car. | |
