Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251 | I worked for a lot of tight neighbors and it has partially rubbed off on me. I find myself fighting it, especially in the house. It pains me to hear someone leaving the water run too long. We have a big Rubbermaid trash can in the laundry room three steps from the kitchen trash cans. It really bugs me when family members stick a milk jug or a box in the kitchen trash with liner bags. Throw it in the big can so you don't have to use so many bags! I always save coffee cans to put stuff in, often nuts and bolts removed from something. My wife gets on me because I keep wearing grey, worn out t-shirts. A while back she threw everyone of them away and replaced them with nice bright new ones. It made me really happy because I would not have been able to do it!
The one thing I'm not tight about is toilet paper. I buy the nicest, softest stuff that's sold and use lots of it. I often laugh at myself while performing a wipe and think about how I'm finally at a state in life where I don't worry about that expense......
I also don't skimp on dress clothes. I have some expensive suits and nice shoes. But that's one place it seems like it pays to buy the best because they just last so much longer and i feel better wearing them. I have my white shirts laundered and starched,and that expense is more that extra kitchen trash bags, but it doesn’t bother me.
The best example of getting more by paying more is luggage. I bought a set of Filson luggage, travel cases, and garment bag that cost over $1000.00 twenty five years ago. They have been on hundreds of trips. Still look nice and work great. My wife buys some cheapo suitcase every few years and the handle breaks on the second trip. I'm getting off the subject, I'll stop now.
