| I always ask them what they think I do.
I usually get something like football, or body guard. Back when I wore polo shirts I’d get coach. My hands and arms are always cut up from firewood or fencing or stripping cotton, I had a doctor one time that finally asked me, he said he had been scared to ask.
I do agronomy, farm, cattle, firewood. Most people are most interested in the cows. People always ask how many acres and they are always shocked when I tell them the acres I have is just an evening and weekend gig. I think lots of people think 500 acres is a big farm.
A few years ago I had been to a meeting, I was dressed business casual. I pulled over on the way home to take a phone call before I lost service and got stuck. Roustabout crew pulled me out. Guy that hooked the chain said man you must not be from around here. He ignored the beat up diesel pickup full of tools and figured I was a city guy. I work with a lot of farmers that wear shorts and tennis shoes even some that have lots of tattoos and stuff. In the past I’ve worked for some women who did it all. Ag is a pretty diverse community these days. When I was a kid I would have drawn my dad or grandpas in a tucked in pearl snap with suspenders and belt. Not so much today!
