Wells or cisterns not plugged right will do that. It's pretty dangerous. I would look at the maps and make sure there aren't more. It happens when dirt is pushed in to fast and bridges over when filled. Also even if filled correctly the will settle. It's best to overfull and leave a big piled of dirt over them marking them and just farm around.
