Just personal preference but the Gallaghers are worth the $100 extra to me. The wire seems to hold up better and I like the reel lock on the gallaghers better than the Taras. When I first started using them I watched the Greg Judy videos and bought two taras. They stay in the shed most of the time unless I'm running short and have multiple reels out.
