It can depend on their equipment, the facilities, and even the cow.
It depends on the operator too. I had the vet out a couple years ago to preg check cows. First time I'd ever seen an ultrasound used and I'm pretty sure it was her first time too. She couldn't even give me a yes or no on whether or not they were bred or open so I'm guessing to determine the gender would've been out of the question. Still had to pay the bill of course. No, they're not my vet anymore
