If you are getting new head, go ahead and get a 4408. It will have the the roll a cones on the outside. A big help in down corn.
As others have said, it shells corn some but a bu. an acre looks like a lot.
I bought mine a few years ago, and at that time, a new one wasn't going to cost much more than a used one that needed some work.
I have a used 2408, that I ran with a 7120, if you are interested.


As IADAVE says, 4408 is a much better corn head than the 3408, worth a little extra money!

Also the later 4408's have better stalk roll spirals and stripper plates, I don't know when CNH updated the improvements.
