East of Broken Bow | I agree. While I am going to not pass judgement on the tariffs until I see how they shake out, I can't say I'm not nervous. I'm guessing Trump is using the tariffs as a bargaining tool to make some sort of 'deal' rather than having them as permanent fixtures against our neighbors. IMO I do think this is one issue where Trump is being heavy handed. Only time will tell if he was right or wrong in what he is doing.
However, the only alternative we had on election day would have been Kamala Harris, and the only thing I heard from her in the last month or so was how amazing it was that you can get Cheetos delivered to your front door.
I do think that Trump working with Musk on DOGE is a stroke of genius though. Even if many of the cuts get challenged in court and reinstated, at least they are bringing into the forefront some of the money laundering schemes that are disguised as government programs, and pointing out some of the absurd ways that taxpayer dollars are being wasted. When I talk to my liberal friends about all they can say about it is that Trump is cutting funds to programs that Congress had approved and funded, but when you ask why they would support someone who approves spending money on things like educating indigenous trans farmers in San Francisco about food equity, they quickly change the subject. They don't support such ridiculous things, but somehow the 'Trump bad' overpowers that. | |
