SE MT | Considering a new loader tractor as our operation is growing, and our tractors are aging and being more susceptible to break downs.
We currently have two JD 4630s (pretty much haying use only), two John Deere 7510s with 11000 and 12,000 hours on them, and one 7230 standard with about 6500 hours on it. I don’t want another 7230 as it is pretty much too smallto make for a good loader tractor, but I did have a low hour(5000) 7410 with loader possibly become available to me close by for between 85 and $90,000.
I know that tractor will be a good one, but things that never used to bother me are starting to bother me like the fact that these tractors are all about 25 years old now, some of the parts may become obsolete. Or are these tractors may start breaking down just because of age.
I believe I could get a tractor that is about only 10 years old like a John Deere 6150 for maybe just a little more money with similar hours but I really have no experience in how these more modern tractors are in terms of reliability, repair costs, etc.
I do most/all of our own maintenance and repairs and not sure how much that would change if getting into the newer stuff.
I feel like I would like to upgrade to something newer as a person can’t stay in the past forever, but the past is what I know and the past is reliable….
If I delete new tractor, am I going to have issues with a Deere dealer servicing them?
Opinions on these newer, John Deere loader, tractors, good and bad before we start looking too seriously.
Cross posted to machinery talk section as well.
Thanks
