 Madison Co. Virginia | This might seem naive, considering my inexperience with beef cattle. How much of a cow's production potential is based solely on her ability to produce milk, and how much is based on her temperament?
For example, could a cow with a good milk supply still end up raising a dink calf; simply because she didn't seek it out aggressively from the field edge, 'force' it to stand up, accompany her, and drink another meal? Could a 'couldn't-care-less' attitude toward the calf significantly lower the calf's performance? | |
