Before our government puts on a full firearms ban I want to purchase a varmint special. Leaning towards a henry. Which ammo calibre is cheaper to buy and easiest to source?

1886 Winchester in 45-90 pushing 405 gr hard cast at 2400 fps seems to be effective for my varmint population (elk).

BLR in 223 would be a good choice but I don't think they are available new in 223. Not sure.

Henry Long Ranger is basically a BLR copy. Not the biggest fan of Henry quality, but their support is second to none.

My next varmint build will likely be a 94 Winchester in 25-35 reamed to 25-35 AI.
