I'm with you on the practicality of an auto loader. Lever action is cool and all if you want to get into cowboy action, I have a few, they just aren't as practical. If looking at the 38 or 45 Henry, a 9mm or 45acp carbine will have better ballistics. My beat around tractor gun is a hi-point 9mm carbine that cost $150 twenty plus years ago that can get dirty or scratched up.
