Subject: Re: Corn stored in the field

Edge of RRV MN
Corn that was in the low 30's for moisture in late december in the RRV and tw at 44- 46#'s are now at 18-22% moisture and TW around 49-52#'s. Thousands of acres of corn are being harvested each day right now. Currently many are having to leave the outside perimeter of the fields due to snow but in a few days that challenge will disapper when the snow does. The University saying of 1-2 moisture points per month has not been true the past two years in the RRV more like 3-5 points per month. This harvesting in the spring is not a planned approach to farming it is just what mother nature has dealt us the past two years and we have to now deal with it. Sure saves money on our drying bill vs the 35-40% that it was at in Oct/Nov.
