just a tish NE of central ND | I HAS to be in the little narrow "TOW POSITION" so the top shaft doesn't rotate and fry the synchronizers. It gets NO oil on those synchronizers from towing, so it has to be in TOW position. Or it will damage them.
If that decal is rubbed off the shifter you won't know where that spot is at. Make sure you find the right spot.
I moved a 4430 home by myself for the same issue you have. I stuck a power line pole under the 4430 for a front hitch. I chained the rear of the pole to the drawbar and left the front sticking out, then blocked the axle side to side with wedge shaped wood blocks, chained the 3 point of my loader tractor to the front of the pole and lifted and pulled it home.
