#1-Plumbing is right,Line to tank should go to sparger (or whatever is used for agitation in tank).You could use old motorized butterfly valve in this line to control agitation . Shut it off when tank's almost empty (before you get a bunch of foam in tank) so pump doesn't suck air and quit pumping with product left in tank. #2-Correct.
