Subject: RE: Micro dairy herd silage storage

WNY
I have a small beef herd and have tried to come up with ways to store corn silage as I can get it cheap and couldnt figure out anything other than bagging (wouldnt be worth it to me as I dont have any chopping equipment but if you have all that you can find older ag-baggers for around 5k). I thought about putting up a small bunk but I'm not sure it would last feeding as little as I do. As others stated baleage is the best option. Honestly I would sell the chopping equipment and buy a nice round baler & Wrapper. I have a smaller skid steer and it handles baleage fine and you can store it pretty much anywhere and not worry about it spoiling. Baleage around here at least is 4'x4' and manageable with smaller equipment.
