 East of Broken Bow | If you come to an agreement, spend the money and have a lawyer draw up papers with both of you there telling them what you agree to.
I would not worry much about him backing out, but I have seen cases where the landowner dies, and the kids and/or grandkids want to cash out and may try to change the deal. If you agree orally, write it down, go over it again with him, so that you both agree on the terms. Then go to the lawyer, and have him take down what you want, and that you both agree. That can go a long way in an estate dispute. | |
