Subject: RE: Dual Tires Increase Compaction ?

I think there's some truth to what was said, with regard to compaction and axle weight. There is a popular idea out there that lower ground pressure will equate to less compaction..... but I don't buy it. When we want to get compaction in something on this farm, we get the dozer. Floats over anything.... but packs the hell out of it at the same time. I think Deere actually did some research on that back in the mid 90's that will confirm that. So, there's truth in what he said.... I'm not sure I'd take it too far though. I use duals for other reasons, and I'd be stuck without them. They give more pull than singles in many situations. The same goes for the tracks. They've got their place too, even packing the bunker silo.......
