I unplugged the EGR on mine. The check engine light came on, but I haven't noticed any problems. Unplugging it will keep the valve closed, so no exhaust gas will circulate. A friend of mine unplugged his and then hooked the harness to a new EGR, but did not install the new EGR. He has the new EGR zip-tied onto the top of the engine. No check engine light with this setup.....
