Add to that dyes and stuff to make it appear more appealing to eat. Used to work at a place that made food flavorings, a few of those were for various Tyson chicken products. If modern broiler chickens actually had some flavor to them a simple spice blend would have been enough. The words "contains natural flavors" or "contains artificial flavors" (or both together) can hide 10+ ingredients on a food label very easily. If you see maltodextrin as an ingredient, it will almost always have added flavors as the malto is used as a flavor carrier. By itself it is just a sugar chain molecule of different lengths (depending on the grade) that has a slightly sweet taste.
