The problems of NAT: 25 year olds won't get a job and work and 70 year old males that are farming won't stopping working and rent or sell me the land.
Reminds me of the story I saw a few years ago about a guy who was 97-98 and still farming. Bragged that he was still running his own combine. Just thought about the guys poor sons who were in their 70’s and never got to “run the combine” cause dad wouldn’t let it go.
Most of the older farmers in my area don’t drive anything but a pickup truck Managed a farm for one of them for 3 years. Saw him make one round on a tractor pulling a Kelly diamond harrow in those 3 years. Said he just wanted to. Didn’t bother me much as all he seemed to do was disrupt the flow of things when he showed up. Everyone got into an “impress the boss” mode when he drove up.
