At age 45, you still have a lot of time ahead of you.

Just please take your time, and you will find someone who shares your work ethic, and whose offspring, if any, are just as hard-working and responsible as you and your son.

Considering that you are still raising a teenager, it is very likely you might meet a woman at the same stage of life, with similar responsibilities and work ethic.

The most important factor in all of this is to set an example for your son - if he sees you conduct this search intelligently, he will do the same, just a few years from now.

If your son is involved in any sports, or 4H or FFA, there are many single Moms whose offspring are also in those activities.

Your "keep getting setup" phrase is interesting - maybe "getting setup" is not as effective as what some might call "agency" - setting yourself up, on your own terms.

I fully understand "not very socially active."

Those of us who seldom leave our property, with morning and evening chores every day of the year, are never going to be in that mode.

My advice, if it is worth anything at all, is to always look presentable when you do leave your property, and wash your truck at the pressure wash on the way into town.

Take a shave, wear CLEAN work clothes (I have my name, and the name of our land, embroidered on my shirts and jackets), walk tall, and smile at everyone you meet.

The right woman is out there, she will be proud to share whatever future you are building, and it might just be easier to do it together, as a team.

Full disclosure, I met my current wife when I was 50, she was 47.

That was 24 years ago, and this July, we will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary (yes, we waited 4 years before we got married).
