Oil sampling is the best way to know what’s going on.

Implement dealers can do that for you or blackstone labs has an online form and runs $40 or so for a basic test.

It’s quite interesting how long one can go with some machines and how use patterns affect oil change intervals. Years ago I sampled my wife’s car (lots of short trips in town) and 3000 miles was too long before moisture and fuel contamination were flagged in the test. Other machines I could safely go 3 years or more the way they were being used.
