If they're failing due to age long before you wear out the tread, then I'd start putting on the cheapest import 10 ply AT's the local store carries. No point in putting expensive tires on it just to rot away. That's a fairly inexpensive size tire, should be able to get something around $100/per tire. Good ones are $150-200.
