NW Iowa | Just ate my last solid food and won't eat anymore good food till later on Tues afternoon. I'm going in for an upper and lower GI Tuesday noon. Clear foods from midnight tonight until tomorrow evening then the prep begins. Most of you guys know the drill. I've had several cleanouts like this for the lower end but this is the first double probe. This is not a cancer check, I've been having gut distress, tiredness and pain in the gut since late last summer. I've had three CT scans since last October, had the gall bladder pulled because of a big stone last October, gut still acting up so this is the next step. I had 8 inches of large intestine removed two years ago because of diverticulitis and felt absolutely great for a year and a half. Now here we go again. I could stand to lose a few pounds but there are better ways to go about it than this. My MD who is considered a very good physician keeps trying antibiotics and CT scans but we aren't getting anywhere. Thursday I called a gastro doc in a larger town expecting a three month wait but they caught me off guard by saying they have an opening the next day. Wow! So I said to my wife "do you wanna go to Sioux Falls tomorrow"? Of course the answer was yes. Visited with the doc she suggested an upper and lower GI and set the date up for next Tuesday, it went that quick. If they find nothing I will be going back in March for some kind of a four hour long food flow test to see how fast the food goes down the pipe and through the system. hopefully by the end of March the temps won't be in the sub teens below zero like it's supposed to be this week. Going through this is just a minor delay in my schedule here at home but there always is some anxiety involved. Wish me luck. | |
