SW Minny | I'm not opposed to the trimming, I struggle with argument we're so fat !?!?!
Seems to me the 1950's and maybe the 1990's had the highest federal employment per US citizen.
I believe the US population was around 150 million vs. 340 million in 2024.
The graph below seems to paint peeks during the US census periods, but otherwise fairly flat employment considering a doubling of US population.
I know there are a fair number of contractors hire so maybe that's how the growth was realized?
