Focus on short term results without taking the longer term into account.  Do you think that cutting military spending in half will make Ameriica great again?  Bet Russia and China are loving this.  Do you have any compassion for the government employees who lost their job and have a family to take care of?  I agree the government has many area's that need cost cutting measures applied but doing it like this questionable, at best.

If the ag sector was looking at the cost cutting measures causing a repeat of the early 80's, or worse, and still supported the cost cutting measures then respect would be in order.  Realistically, do you think if things got so bad that banks were foreclosing on farm loans, or fulltime farmers had to get an off farm job to make ends meet would the support still be there?  My point is, if all sectors of our country shared equally in the pain from the cost cuts, would the support still be as strong as it is now?  Farmers, as a whole, are in the enviable position of being in the upper 10% of net worth in this country.  We should never forget where we came from or ignore the plight of the working man in our country.  It's not just about numbers, its about lives.

Where was all this compassion for coal miners and other families that have lost jobs and watched their communities crumble while beauracrats told them to “learn code” and “leave” ?
