I have a 4230 that is that way. I've heard of getting an aftermarket starter that spins it faster. Do you have any experience with those, and are they worth the money? I hesitate to replace a starter that still works, but I might do it if it would be a significant help in cool weather.

Well worth the money. I have a china one on my 4010 and a true denso on my 4440 and 4840. They will start down into the single digits without ether or being plugged in if needed.
