My 05 dmax doesnt start like it used to. Needs a glow plug control module. Would fire up no problem on a morning like this. Plugs are all new. Now requires the block heater at freezing or colder. The newer ones Ive owned/own over the years would start no issues, if parked at a hotel or something in winter.

high pressure injectors and common rail systems definitely help. Any Cat engine I've had anything to do with would start if it would turn over at a decent speed. Min 30rpm.

have a little BX kubota I blow snow with in town. Stays in cold storage, have a manifold heater. Usually have to cycle heater twice for it to fire up. Older mech pump engines, when colder, I usually crank throttle to the max when starting and let off once cyls fire.
