I had a similar story on a farm 1/2 mile from home. For various reasons I never thought I’d have a chance at it. Three years ago on Sunday afternoon one of the daughters of the owners knocked on our front door. She said mom passed Friday and the farm is for sale, I want you to have it.

It wasn’t quite that simple but five months (and a few sleepless nights) later we closed on it.

You can’t beat a farm that’s close to home.
