Black poly is the gold standard here. I've seen some folks put in PVC, but I don't think the ease of adding tees is worth the hassle of all those glue joints.

I personally don't like to sleeve pipe where it isn't strictly necessary. Pipe moves as the pressure changes, and a chunk of gravel between the sleeve and the pipe will wear through the pipe in just a few years. In contrast, pipe that's completely encased in clean dirt won't move enough to get into trouble.
