North Central ND | I'd have to disagree with that guy, we fuse waterline together all the time, the pipe just has to meet the right standards to be fuseable.
Used to fight putting 2" brass fittings into line all the time, not a fun job even when you heat the pipe with a torch and coat the brass fitting in dawn dish soap. Takes a little time to get the fusion welder set on the joints, but works great.
