Baloney!
I have personally ran our sprayers for over 25 years, the last 15 being in a 47/4830.
That myth came from guys who never got used to the soft suspension of the 47/4830s...they would squat down in the back taking off with a full load, giving the (false) sensation of the front wheels coming off the ground. It was only a false sensation.
Those sprayers were lighter over all, and lighter on the front axle than the back. A few weights on the front rack solved the problem.
The newer mid-range Deere sprayers (4038, 410R) are much heavier overall than the 47/4830 series, and are more evenly distributed front to back. So no so-called "balance" issues now.
The large-frame Deeres (4930, 4045, 616R) have always been heavy machines, and would naturally leave more of a track in soft ground.
One reason we have never traded up to a newer machine is the weight...our 4830 is almost 10,000lbs lighter over all than Deere's newer medium-frame models. | |
