| I don't really have a favorite. I started with the 7014's, but I use 6011's, 6013's, 7014's, 7018's, 11018's, Sodel 35's, Sodel 22's, some Stainless alloy rods, and occasionally some hard facing rods. For the majority of the welding I do, I use the 7018. I like the 7014 for better control in vertical and overhead work, and also use the 7014 if something is fitted poorly. I also use the 6013 for that type of work. 6011 is mostly for heavy, dirty welding, and I sometimes cover it with a 7018.
The Sodel 35 was for cast iron, and I think the Sodel 22 was for spring steel. I've used hard facing rod in the past on plow parts and rock rakes, but it's so expensive I generally don't bother any more. So, I guess most of my work is done with a 7018......
