Just installed a new set in one of our tug boats for use on the Illinois river , we’ve got 14 running from 475 to 600 hp
Usually get around 30,000 hrs on them before we pull them out for rebuild . Only weak spot we’ve seen is the lower counterbore liner o rings eat into the block - have to go to the machine shop and get bored and sleeved in that area . Some minor issues with injector o rings leaking also . We also have several Cummins QSK 19-‘s and we have better luck with the Cat C-18’s …..
I’d think the C18 would be an awesome tractor engine ..
No emissions on marine engines till you get over 805hp ..

Do they cool with river water?
