Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | With my arrangement using the Steady Steer motor, the motor is physically connected to the Steady Steer control branch OR the Truesight 2 control branch but never both at the same time. This is accomplished my simply unplugging the motor control branch from one system and plugging it into the other. The power branch for the motor is not changed and receives Power/Ground from the same source with either system.
The situation is the similar with my Engage/Disengage button. The button is plugged into one system or the other but never both. In other words when I switch from GPS steering in Soybeans to feeler steering in Corn, I move the motor connector from one to the other and the Engage button connector from one to the other.
I do not have any conflict with attempting to use the wrong system since the other system is not connected.
I have considered making a switch box where sliding a switch would swap both the motor control and Engage switch from one system to the other. This should be possible by using a multi-terminal slide switch. I haven't bothered with this plan since it would require a few fairly expensive connectors. Physically unplugging the connectors and plugging them back in the opposite locations is not very hard.
While harvesting corn, the Guidance indications of the InCommand based on AB lines are still available and useful. I bring up the AB lines from planting. The screen indications show me where I am in relation to how the rows were planted.
Our planter is 24 rows and the corn head is 8 rows. This means when striking through for a new strip it is desirable to harvest the Left 8 rows, the Center 8 rows or the Right 8 rows of a planter pass. That way the last pass of a strip should be exactly 8 rows wide. The planting AB lines help guide me in choosing which set to pull in on when making the first pass in a new strip.
