| What is a placebo? As we found out from covud trials, a placebo is anything that will not have an effect on what it is they are testing. For the covid trials they needed something that made it clear you were given a drug so they used another vaccine, I believe it was a flu vaccine but I'm not positive on this. So if they give you a drug that has noticeable non serious side effects you will notice more "issues" than if you were given a sugar pill or saline solution. I used to think that a placebo was a sugar pill or saline solution bit now I know better, and the reasoning that if you take a placebo that shows something it won't be obvious to the people in the study if they got the real drug or not, thus eliminating some other issues. At the same time it does allow for some funny business if a person was so inclined. No idea what they used for placebo for statins, buy they do seem to have a pretty good anti-inflammatory effect through the body which is a good thing. | |
