Depending on how you  use your laptop.... if you use it like a desktop, then maybe buying a separate keyboard and plugging it into the laptop is a good way to go.  Even if you use the laptop portable at times, maybe having a separate keyboard is still a good idea when it serves as a desktop.  It will help on the wear-and-tear of the laptop's original keyboard.
