Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning.

There's an old wheat called Fortuna. I was gone during the years that dad planted it (68 & 69). Solid stem, wiry straw to deal with the next year, decent yield & pro, millers not real wild about the milling quality though. Looking at the extension trials from MT, it still looks like some is being raised, so seed should be available.

Sawflies seem to be in an up cycle lately. Strip cropping has always been a problem with them. Continous (wheat after wheat) block farming has made them worse. Still lots that no one understands about them. I had a 40 acre chunk of a 120 acre field last year, that was continous crop, planted to McNeil, and bordered a fallow field that had been continous for 5 years. North 80 of that chunk got munched on by flies pretty bad. South 40 had no damage. Just about the time I thought I had this figured out, that happened and I'm at a loss to figure out why?
